Flexibility was always something my brother and I struggled to get. We never trained it at an early age and as we got older it seemed impossible to see dramatic increases in flexibility.

Moves like the splits were well out of reach, I can remember being a good foot and a half from reaching the ground in a half-assed splits. This was very annoying... especially being surrounded by dancers and other athletes in my field who had insane flexibility!

We tried everything to get more flexible and nothing seemed to work... I remember looking up how gymnast and other acrobats trained flexibility, and a lot of it focused on static stretching or even forcing yourself into a stretch.

I can remember trying to hold stretches for minutes at a time... It was painful... And afterward my joints would feel weak.
